Psychosocial interventions

general

SIAS offers a range of effective talking therapies, which help clients to examine the issues underlying their drug or alcohol use and make positive changes to their lives such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.

Motivational interviewing helps clients to examine their drug, alcohol and other lifestyle choices and develop the motivation to change their behaviour.  It is non-judgmental and non-confrontational.  The number of sessions and topics covered vary to suit the client.

Topics range from:

  • Drugs or alcohol awareness
  • Patterns of drug or alcohol use
  • Preventing relapse to working with offending behaviour
  • Managing anger
  • Developing the ability to say “no”.
